A lower tax bill means more capital working for you each year. This compares the investment income generated when you reinvest your annual net take-home — without the deduction versus with it — across a seven-year horizon.

How this is calculated
Uses 2025 federal brackets, standard deductions, FICA wage base and additional-Medicare thresholds (post-OBBBA), held flat across all years. State and city figures apply each jurisdiction’s top marginal / resident rate to taxable income — a high-earner approximation. The equipment purchase is modeled at the level needed to fully offset taxable income; the deduction is limited so it cannot drive taxable income below zero, with unused depreciation carried forward.
Excludes itemized deductions, QBI, AMT, tax credits, state disability (SDI), depreciation recapture on a future sale, and the effect of financing. It does not account for whether your activity qualifies as non-passive under IRC §469, which is a precondition for offsetting active W-2 income.

This calculator is an illustration only and is not tax, legal, accounting, investment, or financial advice, nor an offer to sell or a solicitation to buy any security or interest. Figures are estimates based on the assumptions above and the inputs you provide; your actual results will differ.
The tax outcomes shown depend on facts specific to you and on the activity being properly structured and substantiated to qualify for the treatment described. Bonus depreciation can be recaptured as ordinary income on a later sale. Investment returns are not guaranteed and any investment involves risk, including the possible loss of principal.
